Many many many of you have emailed me about Walmart’s new price matching policy and I wanted to take some time to type it out for you! This policy is only for those of you who live in Florida. Walmart’s new policy is really awesome for those of you who live in Florida and have a Walmart near a Publix or Winn Dixie!
Walmart is now price matching all buy one get one free sales in their local competitor’s printed ad. AND, besides price matching BOGO sales, if Walmart’s Every Day Low Price is lower than the BOGO sale, Walmart will price match the BOGO sale AND use their Every Day Low Price! So as an example, if Ragu Pasta Sauce is on sale BOGO at Publix costing $2.75 and if Walmart’s Every Day Low Price on the Ragu Sauce is $2.25, Walmart will honor the BOGO sale and charge only $2.25 for two jars! Walmart is giving us a limit of two of each BOGO deal. Also, we can use two coupons on the two items we purchase to further maximize Walmart’s Every Day Low Price.
Have any of you tried price matching BOGO sales with Walmart’s Every Day Low Price yet? I would love to hear your thoughts and what your experience was like!
For more information on this, Walmart’s Facebook page has an awesome Q&A.

I shopped at the Walmart at 19 and NE Coachman in Clearwater on Sunday. They honored the BOGO at their price for the Progresso soup but would only honor the BOGO of the Dial at their price which was .70 higher than Publix! I was only allowed to use the coupon which was off .50 off 2 but could not use two coupons that were cents or dollars of 1. Because of the limit of 2 offers, poor customer service and coupon issues, I will stick with Publix for the majority of my shopping.

The thing is, walmart won’t take the Target or Winn Dixie Coupons though, and I tend to save $10 – $15 per grocery trip at Publix with those coupons (I usually get about $50-$60 worth of groceries per trip).

I did this last weekend with both Publix and Winn-Dixie Ad’s. It went fine without any issues. My favorite deal was the Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast. Winn-Dixie had it BOGO at 4.59 a lb, Walmart had it for 2.09 a lb. With the meat, they do it slightly different than the other products. They have to ring it at half price per lb. For all the other items, they ring up the first item at full price, then scan the second item and price override it for free. I bought at least 30 different things that were BOGO. I was very careful and made sure all of the sizes were exact (I was unable to do the All Laundry Detergent, because all the ones Walmart had were Bonus Size and did not match). I purchased four of each (Hitting the 2 Free Limit). I additionally had no issues using coupons on all four items. I did separate the items from the rest of my order, and I did bring both Ad’s with me, The Cashier had not had anyone do it yet, so she called over the customer service agent, they were both extremely friendly about the whole situation. The CS Agent did ask if she could keep my flyers, as someone had took their only set, which I more than gladly agreed to let them keep.

Hmm, I’m a die-hard Publix fan. It sounds to me like Wal Mart’s already laughably long lines will only be longer now.

I live in Weston,fl and tried walmart yesterday. I went for the All derergent bogo and the entenmans cakes bogo. They did honored the bogo but only allow two offers per purchase of bogo items, i wanted to buy six All detergents but could only buy two and they do not let you use a coupon for the item you are getting for free so at the end the detergent came out at the same price ( at publix they were 5.99 bogo – 2 $1/1 cpupons=$2 each, at walmart 4.99 with bogo -1 $1/1 coupon= $2 each) do at the end all I saved was .70 $ for the bogo deal of the entenmans cakes. So having to drive 15 to get to a walmart for only .70$ for me is not working yet. I wil stick to publix for now 🙂

Tried the BOGO thing last night around 9pm at my Coral Springs Super Wal-Mart. They actually had cashiers available (I stereo-typed & looked for a cashier that looked coupon friendly). Found I cashier I saw least week who remembered me.
I simply showed him my smartphone: I was on Publix.com’s mobile website. It listed all of the BOGO offers & I was able to select what I wanted to go in my Publix shopping list (to make searching for the items easier).
Luckily, Publix’s mobile website listed enough info for the cashier to scan. He hit one key after each free item and kept it moving. I actually never do this but I purchase all of my items without coupons. The prices were no doubt a steal.
My sisters’ twins decided they wanted to start contracting after her appointment today so I doubt I will be able to go to customer service to redeem those coupons on my purchase.
I also had a Winn Dixie coupon for $0.75 off a fresh juice item, but I was told they only match BOGO ads. They no longer accept coupons from Winn Dixie.

have a Walmart grocery store by me in WPB so the lines aren’t as long as the Super Walmarts. Recently got the Thomas’ english muffins BOGO for $2.28- Lays potato chips BOGO for $2.68 – V8 Splash BOGO $1.98. A couple weeks ago got Ritz crackers BOGO for $2.50 ~ I’m having FUN :o)

While I haven’t tried it yet, There is a big problem with it that has nothing to do with ads or coupons. It’s Walmart’s inability to keep shelves stocked. Their accepting the BOGO’s won’t do any good if you can’t even find the items.

This is a cry for help from Walmart to me. ONLY when thier customer service and product quality matches publix will I shop there. Went to walmart the other day because I had no choice because it was late at night. There was mold all over their fruit, fruit flies everywhere, the isles were blocked because they just haf a truck come in and all the food that was supposted to be cold was lukewarm because it had been sitting out so long. To boot, the salad I bought that was 4 days from experation was already bad and stinky. After that experience, I am never steppinh foot in Walmart again. All of their new ads are out of complete desperation. If they would invest their money in better customer service and products rather than advertisement they wouldnt be hurting so bad

This is great, but I feel this is going to cause Publix to start doing more unadvertised BOGO deals. Walmart will only honor BOGO from Publix if it’s an advertised deal in the Publix ad. I love to save money but I find Publix to be much more of a pleasure to shop at and Publix also accepts target coupons and other competitor coupons which walmart doesn’t do. I also feel customer service at Walmart is horrible and I would rather save time not dealing with the hassle in relation to some of Walmart’s incompetent cashiers. I have also done some price comparing and for some products Publix is actually cheaper. However if the price is lower at Walmart it only tends to be by about .02 or .03 cents. For me I save on gas going to Publix then going out of my way to Walmart for a “possible” savings.

my walmart grocers told me they’d honor bogo deals and sale prices from CVS and Walgreen flyers too. I haven’t tried it yet but will!

Let’s be honest here, in my experience, Publix, Sweetbay, and Target have the best customer service of any retailer out there. This is followed closely by Home Depot. Of course, Costco (warehouse club) tops the list. Bottom line, Wal-Mart stinks. My ex-roommate worked worked in the meat, seafood, and deli dept. With what I know, I would NEVER buy food from there unless it is pre-packaged, and even then I question it on refrigerated meat. Ever look at the stuff that winds up in those return carts and back on the shelves? Ever wonder how long it sits there?

I will stick with Publix as their customer service is excellent. Walmart has long lines and their policy “please-pay-for-your-items-ASAP-and-leave”

Take in all your offers in printed ads….insure all sizes and everything correct…shop for over hour to get it right and get all the other items you needed…get to register to be argued with about the BOGO items limiting me to only 4 which was buying only two and recieving each with a BOGO one. I explained THEIR policy to them to no avail…they took back all my other items I had shopped for and wouldn’t let me buy them!!!! .I now go in ARMED AND DANGEROUS!! I take their policy in with me and my ads. I ask before I shop and not waste my time. I record my cashiers experience on my iphone now if they start to hassle me….. Wal Mart truly does SUCK but when the savings are there one has to make ends meat!!! Just be prepared to go knowing there will be issues, long lines and go during very slow hours for the store.
